Meet Merriam’s New Finance Director

On Dec. 9, Merriam City Councilmembers approved hiring Meagan Borth as the City’s new finance director.

She brings extensive experience in municipal finance and leadership. Borth has managed multimillion-dollar budgets and led strategic planning in cities across Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Most recently, she served as interim finance director at the City of Independence, Missouri.

Single Trash Hauler Public Hearing is Monday, Dec. 9

Attend a public hearing at the Dec. 9 City Council meeting, and give us your feedback on with what the future of trash, recycling, and yard waste in Merriam should look like.

The City Council will review a plan from a workgroup of residents at the meeting and hear from residents. Then, they'll decide whether to move forward with the process or not.

Watch for a Lane Closure on Shawnee Mission Parkway

The outside lane of eastbound Shawnee Mission Parkway at I-35 will be closed starting Wednesday, Dec. 4, for about three-months.

Construction crews are undergrounding utilities by Merriam Grand Station from I-35 to just east of Antioch Road in the first phase.

Single Trash Hauler Workgroup to Meet Nov. 7

A single trash hauler workgroup will meet at City Hall on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 5:30 p.m. to discuss trash services in Merriam.

The workgroup includes residents from each of the City's four wards, two City Councilmembers, and a representative from Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste.
