Let Us Know Your Thoughts!

Over the past few months, a workgroup of residents, City Councilmembers, and a representative from Johnson County have come up with what the future of trash, recycling, and yard waste in Merriam should look like.

Attend a public hearing at the Dec. 9 City Council meeting, and give us your feedback on what the workgroup has come up with.

The City Council will review the information at the Dec. 9 meeting and hear from residents. Then, they'll decide whether to move forward with the process or not.

Background
Talks for the switch to a single trash hauler started after the 2024 Community Survey results showed overwhelming support for it. The City Council discussed the issue in July, and, in October, voted to look into organized collection services.
