The City of Merriam leads the way when it comes to customer service and the quality of services it provides our community!

The ETC Institute – a top firm in local government research – recognized the City with its Leading the Way Award. The award is presented to the top 10% of all local governments in the United States that receive a high composite score for outstanding achievements in services to residents.

The ETC Institute measures three core areas of resident satisfaction:

  • Overall quality of services.
  • Customer service provided by employees.
  • Value of services received for local taxes and fees.

“It’s an honor to receive this prestigious award as it’s a testament to the hard work our staff does each day to make Merriam a great place to live, work, and play,” Mayor Bob Pape said. “Our elected officials work diligently to engage with our residents, and we all work hard to progress the lives of those in our community.”

The ETC Institute also ranked Merriam as a top 20% city in the nation in nearly 30 categories, including:

  • Overall image of the City
  • Maintenance of City streets
  • Quality of local police protection
  • Effectiveness of City administration and appointed staff
  • The City’s efforts to inform about local issues.
