On Dec. 9, Merriam City Councilmembers approved hiring Meagan Borth as the City’s new finance director.

She brings extensive experience in municipal finance and leadership. Borth has managed multimillion-dollar budgets and led strategic planning in cities across Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Most recently, she served as interim finance director at the City of Independence, Missouri.

Borth said she’s excited to work for the City of Merriam because of its strong sense of community and reputation for excellence.

“It’s clear that this city values transparency, teamwork, and serving its residents – values I share wholeheartedly,” Borth said. “I’m excited to be part of a forward-thinking, dedicated organization like Merriam.”

Borth said she’s passionate about creating transparent, efficient processes that serve the community and support city leadership goals.

Borth holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Kansas. She officially joins Team Merriam in early January.
