City Council Votes to Look into Single Trash Hauler

One vote could now mean one trash service provider.

The City Council on Oct. 14 voted to pass a resolution of intent to organize collection services.

This means trash companies will soon bid to become the City’s single trash hauler for trash, recycling, and yard waste.

City staff will pick one company and negotiate a rate. The City’s contract for trash service would include every residence.

A workgroup of residents from each ward will meet on Oct. 24 to work on the bid process. They’ll meet two more times before it goes before the City Council for approval on Dec. 9.

The City can still back out of pursuing a single trash hauler at any time throughout the process.
