Departments

The Administrative Department manages the City of Merriam.

The Community Development Department works to create a quality environment to live, work, and do business within our city.

The Finance Department is responsible for the administration and coordination of the City's financial services.

Fire services for Merriam residents are provided through a unique collaboration with the Overland Park Fire Department.

Merriam Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City, handling all traffic and city ordinance violations.

Merriam Parks and Recreation offers many classes and workshops at the Merriam Community Center, as well as hosts community events at our parks.

The Merriam Police Department is guided by the philosophy of community policing. Community policing is about us working together with our residents.

Merriam Public Works maintains the City's streets, facilities, and parks. They remove snow from the streets during the winter and keep the famous flower baskets blooming all summer. Public Works also manages the Capital Improvement Program and processes right-of-way permits.
