The indoor pool, which had significant COVID-related delays, is scheduled to be complete by Labor Day weekend. The pools will open when we are in the Phase Out stage of the state’s Ad Astra reopening plan.
COVID-19 Safety Measures*
MCC staff will go through daily health screenings and won’t come to work if they have a fever or other COVID-19 symptoms. Look for our physical distancing floor markings to stay 6 feet away from other patrons. We encourage you to wash your hands often or use our hand-sanitizing stations throughout our facility.
Masks
You’re required to wear a mask inside the facility unless you are on a piece of fitness equipment working out or in your assigned spot during a fitness class. Masks must be worn while in transition between pieces of fitness equipment and while collecting any equipment needed inside the fitness classroom. All staff will wear face masks.
Physical Distancing
In the fitness area, alternating pieces of equipment will be closed or floor markings have been added to meet physical distancing guidelines of at least 6 feet. Floor markings have also been added to the fitness room floor to provide 10 to 12 feet between participants. Throughout the facility, additional floor markings have been added anywhere that patrons may be required to line up.
Cleaning Protocols
MCC staff has a detailed plan to separate clean and used equipment – from the pens you use to sign any paperwork to weights, strength equipment, and cardio gear. We will frequently clean and disinfect our building and sanitize high-touch areas.
Aquatics
The indoor and outdoor pools are currently closed until the State of Kansas enters the Phase Out stage of the Ad Astra Re-Opening Plan.
Child Watch
Child Watch will not be offered until the State of Kansas enters the Phase Out stage of the Ad Astra Re-Opening Plan.
*This is our COVID-19 plan as of now, but it continues to be fluid. We’ll make any necessary changes as we evaluate the opening of our new community center. Visit merriam.org/mcc for policy updates.
