The City of Merriam today noted a construction milestone as it held a Topping Out Ceremony for the Merriam Community Center.
During the ceremony, construction crews placed the last steel beam – completing the community center's frame. The beam was signed by City officials and staff, members of the community center’s design committee, Park Board, and Master Plan Steering Committee; members of the McCarthy Design-Build Team; and the tradespeople who worked on the project. The ceremony also recognized and thanked the crews working on the building.
The Merriam Community Center is located off IKEA Way, just east of Merriam City Hall and the police department. Construction on the $36.6 million community center began last fall. It's scheduled to open in summer 2020.
