You can now look up any Merriam Municipal Court case online. The City today announced the Court’s public access data is available for all customers with cases from July 2012 and forward.
The Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City, handling all traffic and city ordinance violations. Offenders can now search the Court’s public access data to find their court date or balance due. They can search their case by name, date of birth, citation number, or police case number.
“By viewing their case online, defendants have an opportunity to view their hearing dates so the chance of failure to appear decreases,” Court Administrator Sheila Sheridan said. “It will also assist bonding companies and attorneys finding hearing dates on their outstanding cases.”
In addition to finding their court cases, Sheridan said offenders can continue to pay their fines online and possibly avoid coming to Court. She said this is a benefit to both the defendant and the Court as fewer people in front of the judge speeds up the day to day court process.
The Court’s public access site and fine payments can be found online at merriam.org/court.
