Large-Item and Curbside Leaf Pickup Available to Merriam Residents

The City of Merriam will conduct its annual fall cleanup campaign Oct. 16–20. The Public Works Department provides free, large-item disposal twice a year.

Residents disposing large items such as furniture, appliances, carpets/rugs, and miscellaneous items should place items by the curb before 7 a.m. on their scheduled pickup day.

Items not collected include routine trash, concrete/rocks/cinderblocks, trees/brush, roofing materials, and household hazardous wastes such as paint and pesticides.

Those needing assistance or who have question should call Public Works at 913-322-5570.

Monday - north of 75th St. and south of 67th St.; east of Switzer and west of Antioch Road.
Tuesday - north of 67th and south of Johnson Drive; east of Switzer St. and west of Antioch Road.

Friday - north of 53rd St. and south of 47th St.; west of Antioch Road and east of Switzer St.

The City also is partnering with Benjamin Lawn and Landscape to offer a group rate for residential curbside leaf removal in our neighborhoods.

The first curbside leaf pickup date is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 31. This voluntary program has two pickup dates. The second date is scheduled on Nov. 28. The cost for this program is $68 for both pickup dates, or you may purchase separately.

Residents taking part of curbside leaf removal should rake their leaves into a long and narrow pile along the curb by 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Crews will vacuum the row of leaves up to six feet into your yard. Please remove rocks, sticks, trash, and other debris. Please also move your vehicles away from the leaf pile on collection day.

Visit to sign up for curbside leaf pickup or for more information or call 913-788-6089.
