Bridge repairs to close portion of Johnson Drive in Merriam beginning Feb. 3rd
MERRIAM, KANSAS (Jan. 24, 2014) –– Navigating Johnson Drive in Merriam may become a little more difficult beginning February 3rd. That's when construction is scheduled to begin on the Johnson Drive bridge over Turkey Creek between Merriam Lane/Campbell Street and Merriam Drive.
The purpose of this project is to replace a structurally deficient bridge and to improve safety for vehicular, transit, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.
Once construction begins, the bridge will be completely closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the project (approximately six months contingent on weather). Pedestrian traffic over the bridge will be allowed during construction, but will be limited. Alternate routes and detours can be found on the City’s website, www.merriam.org.
For additional information on this project, contact Merriam City Engineer, Hye Jin Lee, at 913-322-5522 (office) or 714-932-5242 (mobile).
