Merriam Residents Can Apply for Exterior Home Improvement Grant in January

Merriam residents looking to beautify their homes may be eligible for an Exterior Home Improvement Grant through the City.

Merriam is investing $30,000 in the pilot program and will provide a 20 percent, or $2,500 max, reimbursement for exterior home improvements upon completion. There is no income requirement but other conditions may apply.

About the Program

Homeowners need to have at least $4,000 in combined repairs or renovations. You may be reimbursed anywhere from $800 up to a maximum of $2,500.

Starting on Jan. 2, 2018, you can come to City Hall (9001 W. 62nd St.), fill out an application, and submit at least $4,000 in estimated work bids. Grant money will be available until it's all allocated.

You’ll be reimbursed after City staff sees at least $4,000 in receipts and performs a post-project inspection to verify projects are completed and code compliant.

Visit merriam.org/exteriorgrant for more information including eligible home improvements. Please contact David Easley at 913-322-5526 or deasley@merrriam.org with any questions.
