Persons age 16 and over may use the Irene B. French Community Center Fitness Center at a daily rate, or may purchase single or family memberships at a resident or non-resident rate. Youth age 13-15 may use the Fitness Center when accompanied by a person age 18 or over after completing a mandatory equipment orientation with our Fitness Specialist.

Monday-Thursday 8:00am-9:00pm
Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm
Sunday 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Health Club
Family and single Health Club Memberships are available to both Merriam residents and non-residents. Memberships include unlimited use of the Fitness Center, free Open Gym Activities at scheduled times, locker and shower room privileges, Personalized Fitness Assessment & Equipment Orientation, Standardized Four-Part Fitness Evaluation
by appointment with our Fitness Specialist.

The Fitness Center includes the following equipment:

Cardiovascular equipment including:
Four LifeFitness Treadmills
Two LifeFitness Ellipiticals
One Stepmill
One LifeFitness Recumbent Bicycle
One LifeFitness Row Trainer
One SciFit Total Body Recumbent Stepper
Equipment includes a 900 mHz receiver to select from choice
of one of two televisions or preselected FM radio stations.

ID Card Admission Policy:
Drop-in open gym and fitness center patrons must furnish a photo ID card with proof of residence. If no ID is available, we can provide ID cards for a $5.00 charge. Residency information must be updated annually.

Personalized Fitness Assessment & Equipment Orientation:
A certified Fitness Specialist is available by appointment to spend 60 minutes with you in the fitness center. 
  • Establish appropriate weight and seat settings for all the LifeFitness Machines
  • Familiarize you with the Cardiovascular Equipment
  • Assess you functional range of motion and basic mobility
  • A personalized starting workout created based on you activity level and fitness goals. 
Standardized Four-Part Fitness Evaluation:
Designed to gage your basic fitness level and evaluate your general fitness level, these four simple fitness tasks can test your cardiovascular, upper body, abdominal and flexibility.
  • Three minute step test
  • One minute sit-up test
  • One minute push-up test
  • Hamstring Flexibility test
Personal Training:
Hourly personal training sessions are available with Jennifer Reed, Fitness Specialist.
$25 per hour for Fitness Center Members
$50 per hour for Non Fitness Center Members

"Free" Health Club Membership Contest:
We would like to show our appreciation to our loyal health club members who have used our facility on a continuous basis throughout the years. Every quarter we will have a drawing from our Health Club memberships. One lucky member will receive a FREE "Single" Quarterly Membership*. The only requirements to be part of the drawing are: 1) Must be a health club member for at least two consecutive quarters, and 2) Has fun at our facility.
